Per Chapter 93, Water Quality Standards, of the Pennsylvania Code the PA Department of Environmental Protection specifies designated uses for each waterway of the Commonwealth upon which the water quality standard and determined water use shall be protected.

As defined in Chapter 93, Cold Water Fishes (CWF) support maintenance and propagation of fish species and additional flora and fauna which are indigenous to a cold water habitat.  Warm Water Fishes (WWF) support maintenance and propagation of fish species and additional flora and fauna which are indigenous to a warm water habitat.  Trout Stocking Fishes (TSF) support maintenance of stocked trout from February 15 to July 31 and maintenance and propagation of fish species and additional flora and fauna which are indigenous to a warm water habitat.
